An Iowa native, Dan joined the Bergara/BPI Outdoors team in October, 2012 upon his retirement from the US Marine Corps.  Dan served just over 22 years in the Corps and retired as a Master Sergeant. During his service to his country, Dan served his first six years as a specialist in small arm repair.  He was then assigned to the US Marine Corps Precision Weapons Section (PWS) located in Quantico, VA for eight years, where he honed his skills building precision weapons including the M40A1/A3 Sniper rifles, M14 DMR rifles, M1911A1 MEUSOC Combat Pistols, and the Marine Corps Shooting Team competition rifles and pistols.  Dan then served as Precision Weapons Repairman and Ordnance Chief for 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA both stateside and while deployed in support of OIF & OEF in Iraq.   After completing several deployments, Dan served as the Senior Marine Instructor at the US Army Ordnance School in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.  Dan’s final assignment in the Marine Corps was back at PWS in Quantico where he served as the Production Chief and Chief Instructor. There he was in charge of production and quality control of the M40A5 Sniper rifles, M14 EMR rifle, M45 Combat Pistol, Marine Corps Shooting Teams firearms, Foreign/Non-Standard Weapons and the training of future Precision Weapons Repairmen.  Dan’s hobbies include shooting competitively, hunting big game, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his wife Penny and their two daughters.
